Treatments for
Acne

Oxytetracycline (250mg)

Overview

Acne or acne vulgaris, is a long-term disease of the skin that surfaces when hair follicles clog with dead skin cells or oil.

Acne is recognised by blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, oily skin and even scarring. It affects those areas where there are a high number of oil glands.

Causes

Hormones can trigger or worsen acne. These hormones first come prevalent in individuals during puberty. It is during this stage of life when sebaceous glands become larger and produce more sebum than usual.

Pregnancy and oral contraceptives can also cause acne due to hormonal chages.

Risks

Severe acne that is left untreated can worsen and result in scarring. It can also result in lack of emotional confidence and self-esteem.

Initiating treatment earlier on can reduce scarring and emotional stress.
