Treatments for
Arthritis Pain

Naproxen (500mg)

Overview

Arthritis is a painful and degenerative condition of inflammation in the joints that causes stiffness and pain. Osteoarthritis, the most common type of arthritis, gets worse with age and is caused by wear and tear over the years.

Causes

Normal wear and tear causes osteoarthritis, one of the most common forms of arthritis. An infection or injury to the joints can exacerbate this natural breakdown of cartilage tissue.

Another common form of arthritis, Rheumatoid arthritis, is an autoimmune disorder, occuring when your body's immune system attacks the tissues of the body.

Risks

Factors that can be controlled include obesity or being overweight, muscle weakness (from injury or inactivity), and overuse of joints (such as from repetitive movements).

Risk factors for rheumatoid arthritis include genetics and heredity, hormones, and infection. Genetic factors  cannot be controlled.
