Treatments for
Altitude Sickness

Sukh's Miracle Cure2

Overview

Altitude sickness can be caused at certain heights above sea level where there is low oxygen levels, which can cause the feeling of sickness (nausea) or actual sickness.

People that travel by aeroplane or mountain climbers can experience altitude sickness which can be quite uncomfortable for the individual. Acetazolamide can reduce or prevent the symptoms, althought will not cure them.

Causes

Severe altitudes where there is a lack of oxygen, such as high in mountains or even whilst flying in an aeroplane. Symptoms such as nausea usually start to occur after 6 to 24 hours after reaching heights more than 3,000 metres above sea level.

Risks

Although altitude sickness is treatable, acute altitude sickness can lead to high altitude pulmonary edema in the brain which can be more serious and lead to fatality.

Individuals should immediately descent to a lower altitude or have oxygen administered.

Lifestyle

Professionals that are required to travel abroad may be prone to altitude sickness and can use medication to aid their symptoms.

Hobbyists and explorers on the other hand, choose to climb mountains and will also have to deal with sickness with medication such as Acetazolomide if they want to continue to pursue their recreational activities.
